Walleye with garlic, lemon, parsley, and pairing it with this no-cook puttanesca style pasta dish (olives, capers, tomato, anchovies, garlic, fresh parsley and lemon) The fish didn’t turn out exactly how I planned. I didn’t get the pan hot enough and the fillets started falling apart before they could get that perfect crust. But honestly, it didn’t matter. Every summer, my family heads north for a week of camping, fishing, and quality time together. This year we returned to Missinaibi Lake in Northern Ontario, a remote lake over 1,000 kilometres from home. The journey includes rough roads, unpredictable weather, lots of bugs, and plenty of challenges, but the scenery, solitude, and fishing make it all worthwhile. Over the course of the week we chased walleye and northern pike, explored Whitefish Falls, cooked fresh fish at camp, and spent time with family and friends around the fire. The fishing was great at times and tough at others, but that's never really been the reason we come. This video is a look at our annual family trip and the traditions that keep bringing us back. Could we catch and cook enough walleye to feed 11 hungry guys? After a successful day on the water at Missinaibi Lake, it was time for the biggest fish fry I've ever attempted.
