After a successful trip last month to Poplar Point Camp, we travelled back up to ice fish one last time before ice out. Last trip I caught an amazing lake trout. I’ve never had a fish fight quite like this one… I’ll leave the link to that video below:    • How I Caught My F…   The goal was a big northern pike and to spend one day targeting lake trout at a back lake near Poplar Point. The idea was to keep a lake trout or two for dinner. We ended up taking them back and cooking them in the permanent ice fishing shack right on the wood stove while we were tip up fishing. Along with a venison steak wrapped in bacon and garlic potatoes seasoned with Old Bay. We had so many flags while trying to cook. It was an absolute blast and we had an amazing meal! Big shout out to Poplar Point Camp, truly a hidden gem of North Eastern Ontario. Perfect place if you are looking to extend or start your winter activities early. This area is truly an outdoorsman’s paradise with endless opportunities for fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.
