Seasonally warm temperatures destroying our ice and winter in the south, I decided to take an ice fishing trip up to North Eastern Ontario. I decided that drive farther than I usually do, I was excited to explore a new area… I didn’t have set plans going into the trip but I had 3 goals in mind: 1. Catch my first BURBOT/LING/EELPOUT 2. Catch a BIG Northern PIKE 3. Catch my first ever LAKE TROUT It’s a lot to pack into 4 days but I can’t wait to take it on! Lots more content to come from this amazing trip, can’t wait to share with you guy On this trip to Lake Nipissing the tip up caught more fish than anything else. It was a simple rail tipup (HT) with 50lbs braid and I honestly think it was tied straight to a treble hook with a medium shiner attached through the back. Inside the shack we were running ML rods with split shots and jiggin raps and I also mention the other setup that was very effective at the end of the video. I was really happy to catch my first ever burbot even though it wasn’t huge. Still lots enough winter left to catch a bigger one. But our next stop on our trip will be to look for a BIG northern and then one day to target Lake Trout.
